No other legislation with such overwhelming support as the horse protection bills receive, have ever been denied a vote for this long. (referring to The American Horse Slaughter Protection Act)

The Nation in brief @ 12.22.11

Popvox legislation monitor:

81% support house bill HR 2966 banning horse slaughter

78% support the senate legislation, S 1176 banning horse slaughter

85% support senate bill S 1281 that would ban double decker trailers for transporting horses

80% oppose S 1129 that would amend the 1976 Federal Land Policy and Management Act. This bill
would make the current mismanagement permanent (paltry grazing fees far below the cost of
managing the program) and immune to review.

66% oppose HR 1996 that would amend the Equal Access to Justice law making it difficult for advocacy
groups to bring forth lawsuits against the government by limiting the number of suits and amount of
rewards. This was introduced by Cynthia Lummis in WY and clearly an attempt to halt the lawsuits
against the BLM for their failure to follow the 1971 law. Lummis has been very outspoken in favor of
removing wild horses and burros from public land

Data not available yet - S 1061 is the senate companion bill to HR 1996. This bill was introduced by
    John Barasso in WY.

I encourge all of you to register and let your voice be heard - if you haven't already.

The White House petitions calling for a ban on horse slaughter and protection of wild horses and burros both reached 5,000 signatures in record time. Our opponents were almost 3,000 signatures behind calling for horse slaughter when we reached 5,000 on October 9, 2011. I am not aware of any opposition petition on the wild horse and burros. Signing these petitions is now closed.

These are documents containing the testimony before Congress in 2006 on HR 503. The testimony from Beaver is the one that has been widely circulated because she may have perjured herself not once, but twice by stating that the CBG provides instant death. The CBG is designed to stun, not kill.
